How long do I have to correct a fire code violation in Georgia?
Whatever the notice says — the date printed on it governs. In practice Georgia re-inspections commonly land about 30 days out, and some jurisdictions give 14 days or fewer for life-safety-critical items. Never assume the longer window; read the notice and work backward from the re-inspection date.
What does the fire marshal need to see to close the violation?
Evidence, not assurances: dated photographs of the corrected condition, the test or inspection report showing the system passed, a signed certificate or service tag from the licensed contractor who did the work, and a written response tying each cited item to its correction.
Can you get my citation dismissed or appeal it for me?
