Terms of Use

Who runs this site

LifeSafetyWiki is operated by Samektra Safety Management & Training (Stanislav Samek, sole proprietor), based in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Contact: stanley.samek@proton.me.

What this site is

A free, public reference encyclopedia for fire protection, life safety, healthcare compliance, and OSHA. It is educational — a starting point, not a final answer. Read our editorial standards for how we source and cite the code.

What this site is not

  • Not legal advice.
  • Not engineering sign-off. Design and hydraulic calculation work belongs to a licensed FPE or EOR.
  • Not a substitute for your AHJ. The fire marshal, plan reviewer, or CMS surveyor with jurisdiction over your building has the final word. When there is a conflict, they win.
  • Not financial or investment advice. Cost estimates for permits, fees, or renewal cycles are informational; the issuer's live page is authoritative.

Accuracy

We work to get things right and correct them when they are not. Codes change, editions shift, state adoptions lag — the date on an article tells you when it was last updated, and Clara (our AI assistant) is required to name the edition behind any citation. If you find an error, email us. Corrections that change a factual claim get logged in the article's edit history.

AI-assisted content

Some content is drafted with the help of AI (Groq Llama and Anthropic Claude). Every published article is reviewed by a practitioner before it goes live. Clara's chat responses are generated in real time and can be wrong; always confirm against the source we cite before acting.

Third-party links

We link out to NFPA, ICC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, state fire-marshal rules, vendor pages, and job boards. Those sites have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control what they publish.

Your account and content

If you sign in, you own what you post. By posting to the community or submitting a photo for a game or article, you grant us a non-exclusive right to display that content on the site. You can ask us to remove your content at any time by emailing us. Do not post copyrighted material you do not own, confidential health information, or anything that could identify a patient.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by Georgia law, Samektra and its contributors are not liable for decisions made based on content read here. Use professional judgment. Confirm with your AHJ. Own the standards you cite.

Privacy

What we collect, and why

  • Nothing, if you are browsing anonymously. The wiki, tools landing, and study exam previews are readable without an account.
  • Email + password, if you sign in. Used to save your training tracker, community posts, exam attempts, and cert calendar. Handled by Supabase; passwords are never in our database in readable form.
  • Profile fields you type. Name, role, company, certifications, avatar. Only visible if you mark your profile public.
  • Facility data you type into Central Station. Building name, address, inspection reports, schedules. Only visible to you and the analyst assigned to your account.
  • Aggregate analytics. Page-view counts, popular searches — for the site owner to understand what practitioners are looking for. No cross-site tracking, no ad networks.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not run third-party ad tracking or fingerprinting.
  • We do not share your community post history or profile with anyone unless your profile is set public.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are the ones required for you to stay signed in (Supabase auth) and remember light/dark mode. There is no advertising cookie of any kind.

Email

We send email only if you specifically ask for it — the Weekly Brief (footer signup, double opt-in, unsubscribe link in every message), transactional notifications (community reply, team invite, cert calendar reminder), and password reset. You can opt out of the Weekly Brief and of reply notifications from your profile settings.

Data we send to AI providers

When you chat with Clara, your message + the page context is sent to Groq or Anthropic for the response. Neither provider is given your name, email, or account identifiers. Their privacy policies apply to what happens on their end.

Deleting your account

Email stanley.samek@proton.me from your registered address and we will delete your account, posts, and any facility data you own within seven days. We keep pseudonymised aggregate analytics (page views, etc.) that cannot be traced back to you.
