Computer-based (Pearson VUE or OnVUE remote), 85 questions, 110 minutes, CBT format — multiple-choice, multiple-select, and exhibit/hotspot items. Register at NICET →
Cost note
Fee effective August 1, 2026 (was $230 before). Open-book: NFPA 72 (2022), NFPA 70 (2020), and Ugly's Electrical References (2020) are permitted in the room — permanently-tabbed and highlighted, but no handwritten notes and no NFPA Handbook substitute.
Eligibility
Minimum 6 months full-time-equivalent experience with fire detection and signaling systems, plus supervisor-verified Level I Performance Measures (job-site safety awareness, identifying common FAS equipment, safe tool use, proper installation technique, and reading drawings/specifications). Higher levels require additional documented field experience.
Renewal
