AHA requires 45 contact hours every 3 years. At least 30 must be in healthcare facility management; up to 15 in related/general.

What it costs
Issuer fees change yearly. LifeSafetyWiki never republishes a fee we can’t verify against the source — when in doubt, the issuer’s portal is the source of truth.
CHFM recert fee is set by AHA Certification Center and differs for ASHE members vs non-members. Verify current amount before paying.
How to renew
Submit 3-year CHFM recertification
- Log contact hours in your AHA Certification Center profile throughout the cycle
- Ensure ≥30 hours are in healthcare facility management (Domain 1-5)

- Pay the current recertification fee
- Submit and await confirmation email
Classes that help you prepare
ASHE runs the CHFM Exam Review Program in person and live online, and publishes the upcoming dates on this page.
Dates and pricing are published and kept current by ASHE (American Society for Health Care Engineering) — we link rather than copy them, so nothing here goes out of date.
