Employer’s part
Your employer finishes the job: the chemicals in your area, where the SDSs are kept (binder or app), your workplace labeling system, the hazards of non-routine tasks, and the PPE and emergency procedures for your job.
Repeat it
OSHA requires training at first assignment and whenever a new chemical hazard comes into your work area (1910.1200(h)(1)) — no fixed interval. The 2024 update means employers retrain on changed labels and SDSs by their compliance dates.

When you finish, you'll be able to

  • Explain your right to know and what your employer’s written HazCom program contains
  • Read a shipped label: the six elements, signal words and the nine pictograms
  • Label workplace containers correctly and spot when a secondary container needs one
  • Find what you need in a 16-section Safety Data Sheet, fast, in an emergency
  • Avoid the GHS category vs NFPA 704 number trap
  • Know what the 2024 update changes and the extended compliance dates
How this course works · 1-minute read
Lessons are slides
Use Back / Next or the ← → arrow keys. The gold bar above each slide jumps to any slide, and marks the Quick Checks before you reach them.
Quick Checks
17 short questions sit inside the lessons. Pick an answer and the right one and the explanation appear straight away. They are practice — nothing is recorded.
Every answer has a source
Citation cards name the regulation or standard behind a slide; OSHA and EPA citations open the official text. Nothing comes into this exam room, so the course flags what to memorize.
Your place is saved
Sign in and the course remembers the slide you stopped on. A lesson is marked done when you press Mark lesson complete on its last slide — you can unmark it to study it again.
Then the final and your employer
A 12-question final assessment (70% to pass) unlocks the certificate with your contact hours. Then print the practical checkoff: your employer’s competent person covers your site and checks you hands-on.
